Road Trip Through Scotland

For about two weeks me and my partner had the fortune and great pleasure of accompanying our Scottish friend David on a road trip through Scotland. Since we had David, we got to see a lot of amazing places that would have been well hidden for the otherwise general tourist. To partner up with a local is by far the best way of getting to know a new place, so when we were asked to come along, we dropped everything and got on a plane as soon as we could.

Being on the road with friends, experience the beautiful landscapes, and stoping at local pubs along the road is a blast. But I can tell you one thing: people don’t always appreciated having a photographer in the car. Can we stop here? And here? and ‘Oh, look at that, can we go there?’ You get the drift. After a while, you start to feel like you’re disturbing. The requests of stops gets fewer and fewer, and you sit there as you’re passing all these cool places thinking ‘that could have been a great shot’, ‘and that’… But despite the feeling of missing out here and there, I actually got some amazing photo opportunities.

If not only to enjoy the culture itself with all the pubs, charming old towns, and their vibrant history, visiting Scotland is an experience one shouldn’t miss out on. And one thing is for certain, if given the chance to go back, I’d take it in a heart beat!

Ps. I almost forgot. Naturally, we made the almost compulsory visits to Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle, and Glenmorangie’s whiskey distillery. Ds.
